Hillcraft - October 2015
Hillcraft - October 2015
Twice a year Gravesham District Scouts run Hillcraft, a hillwalking trip. Each October the trip is aimed mainly at first timers and allows them to have the oppourtunity to venture into the hills and learn new skills.
This October the trip took them to the Breacon Beacons in South Wales and there were 9 members of 1st Northfleet along for the trip, including 2 of the Scouts, 1 young leader and a handful of adults.
Those on the trip undertook 2.5 days worth of walks into the hills seeing summits and waterfalls along the way as well as various other features such as stone cairns and llyn's (tarns/lakes) as well. The evenings allowed them all to mingle and socialise with other Scouters from across the district (there were 42 present in total) within the comfort of the bunkhouse that we were staying within. Everyone was well fed by the awesome catering team of Tracey and Anne, as well as mucking in together when it can to cleaning and tidying before/after meals.
Overall it was a great fours days, even the weather was pretty good too!
To cap it off, one of the Scouts that come along completed his final challenge badge and was award his Chief Scout Gold Award. Read more about that here.
